Greetings — I’m glad you’re here. My art says more than these words can, so wander the gallery first if you like.

I’m inspired by mythology, anthropology, religion, spirituality, dreams, architecture, and the natural world — all tied together by one underlying theme: the recognition that there is a reality beyond the normal senses. I want my work to reflect glimpses of it.

I grew up behind an art school in Hollywood. On weekends my friends and I would sneak in to look at the glorious mess the students had made during the week — and a great deal of art. Across the street, an artist colony thrived. I spent hours watching those artists and asking about their techniques, then went home and tried to imitate them. I was a spectacular failure. But I loved how the colors ran across the canvas, and my uncle, Al Boime, professor of art history at UCLA, gave me an informal education by dragging me to art museums across Los Angeles.

My work began in colored pencil, moved through watercolor pencils to oils and acrylics, and then I discovered the magic of the digital world. Now I combine the old traditional with the new — some of it is all digital. Sometimes I begin with a clear image of how a piece will look; it always takes on a life of its own and alters the final outcome. I’ve learned I am just the vehicle.
